AAC

Social-Professional Communication

Accent Modification

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) supports individuals with limited verbal speech by providing tools and strategies to help them communicate effectively. AAC can include low-tech options like picture boards, as well as high-tech speech-generating devices (SGDs). These systems help individuals express their needs, thoughts, and feelings in meaningful ways. As a speech-language pathologist, I work closely with individuals and their families to assess communication needs, trial AAC devices, and determine the most appropriate programs and tools to support each person's unique communication style.

Social-Professional Communication

Accent Modification

Accent modification, also known as accent reduction, is aimed at helping individuals modify or adjust their accents to improve their pronunciation and speech clarity in a new language or dialect. Therapy may focus on pronunciation, intonation, speech rate, and word stress. Individuals pursue accent modification to improve workplace communication, overcome language barriers, and boost self-confidence in social settings. It's a collaborative process focused on achieving clear communication in their chosen language or dialect, while honoring their cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Social-Professional Communication coaching integrates speech therapy techniques with pragmatic communication skills to improve everyday and workplace interactions. This includes coaching on eye contact, body language, conversational turn-taking, reading social cues, and adapting communication style to different settings. These services aim to help individuals use their voices and communication skills comfortably, confidently, and effectively in social and professional environments. As a speech-language pathologist, I provide personalized therapy and coaching tailored to each individual's goals.
